Anniversary
A week ago today was my first anniversary in Bolivia. Last November 9 I stepped off a plane in Santa Cruz with bleary eyes (after the overnight flight), a backpack stuffed with books and a change of clothing, and a mind bursting with questions. Not the least of which was, “What’s in store for me these next three years?”
So far, life here has been neither easy nor predictable. It has required me to put in jeopardy my comfort level, my patience, and my pride, and to take a hard look at some assumptions I’ve always taken for granted. It has also consistently failed to be boring or to allow me to stagnate—thank God for that!
Recently I found the following blessing in my inbox, as part of a chain email. I don’t know whether St. Therese of Lisieux is its real author, and I didn’t pass it on to fifteen friends as the email directed, but I do want to share it with you. Here’s hoping it’s true of all of us, wherever we are on our journeys:
“May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you... May you be content knowing you are a child of God... Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.”
Amen.

What a beautiful picture...it really conveys a lot of introspection and at the same time the wideness and beauty of creation.
It was so great to see you this week as you headed north - have a very Merry Christmas!
Esta es una de las fotos que más me gustan, dice tanto sobre la vida y nos permite experimentar la confianza en Dios.
