Teeth! (six months old)

Here they are: Samuel's first teeth! Yes, that's plural; if you get up really close to your computer screen, you may be able to see them both--a bigger one on your left side (Samuel's right) and a little bump next to it where the second tooth is sprouting. It took months (it seemed) of chewing, drooling, and irritability, and a few almost sleepless nights, but now they're finally out. The first lower incisor broke through a week after Samuel's turned five months old, and the second made its appearance around the six-month mark.

To celebrate this fact, we're now feeding him fruit juice, milled in his very own baby food grinder (remember the one we had when we were kids, Mom and Dad?) and strained, then spooned into an eagerly awaiting open mouth. Look for photos soon of Samuel's official first feeding--papaya puree.

Yet another smile! Either you are a great photographer or Sam is a super subject... probably not an either/or.
